
Full Professor of Criminal Procedure at the University of Pisa. She is author of numerous scientific publications, including two monographic works: the first on evidentiary law and tempus regit actum and the second on the relationship between ICT and criminal procedure.
She has participated in important research projects, both of national and international relevance, is an Italian contact member of the GT-Cyberjust working group set up at the Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) and has recently participated in the working group on telematic criminal trial set up by the Minister of Justice Cartabia for the implementation of the reform of the criminal procedure.
For years, the main area of her research has been the complex interactions between new technologies and the judicial habitat, both from the point of view of the digitization of procedures and the assistance of AI in judicial decision-making. In this regard, it is worth highlighting her participation, as Local Coordinator, in the project ‘New technologies, biometric data and criminal proceedings’ and, as Principal Investigator, in the project ‘New Frontiers for a Participatory Criminal Justice Towards the Thresholds of Metaverse’.
